While this month provided ideal conditions for field trips, those ended after the 8th, with winds getting too strong for observations and later winds, rain and cooler temperatures making a "golden autumn" rather unlikely at this point.

New species:

Pontia edusa

With P. bellargus disappearing in the first weeks of September and P. napi making no further appearances after the 8th of the month, this year's observation season slowly is coming to an end. Despite this, however, P. edusa made its first – and last – surprise appearance, which I failed to capture with my camera.

On a side note, both P. rapae pupae in my yard still have not hatched, meaning that they likely are hibernating – an unusually early beginning, considering the pupae were registered in early August. The pupae of V. atalanta disappeared after a stormy day and I was unable to find its leaf nest.

As of right now (27 September), the weather is set to get even cooler but with weaker winds and somewhat drier conditions. I'm still hoping for a "Golden October", though.
