06 August (additional note)
Due to strong winds, this day's planned field trip was cancelled. Some butterflies did make an appearance at my neighbor's butterfly bush in the late afternoon (5:30 PM), however.

On top of this, I tested my new Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and I'm noting but impressed. It also managed to capture a hummingbird hawk moth (Macroglossum stellatarum) without issues, in fact its AF is superior to that of my disassembled IS II and in all aspects better than my broken EF L. I couldn't be any more satisfied.
