Despite starting into the moth with a heat wave, July turned out unusually April-like. Unstable weather conditions, a blocked road redirecting traffic through all zones but Zone III, work, multiple other commitments and two technical failures affecting both of my telezoom lenses negatively affected the amount and quality of my field trips.

Perhaps the most noteworthy highlight of this month was the surprising return of P. aegeria, finally having broken its absence that lasted for two years. It disappeared again after dozens of cars began to use the bike bath as a shortcut. E. tages also made its first appearance after seemingly having skipped its spring generation. P. edusa continues to seek suitable territories.

Due to the largely cool and wet weather, C. pamphilus still is active at the time of writing this. P. coridon thus so far has only made a single appearance on 27 July, two to three weeks behind the previous schedule set between 2022 and 2024. A. pahila remains abscent and so do all dragonflies.

With my relacement EF L lens (and my broken one which now will make some questionable decoration in my "office" due to also having started to rapidly accumulate fungi) not arriving before Friday and my work schedule becoming stricter, August may become the second month with less field trips than usual. Most field trips will be set in the first two weeks, hopefully also finally including "Meisel" once the blocked road temporarily allows traffic to avoid my zones.
