March 2026
Single logs from this month:
In a series of unfortunate events, I irst developed a hazel pollen allergy that kicked off at the end of February. At the same time, my capsule on Yestercities got deleted by a malicious actor targeting the entire host, forcing me to come up with two mirrors (one on flounder.online, another on Codeberg) Just one week later, some people decided to have a spontaneous barbecue at the top of the Cherry Hill (Zone I), setting 3000 m² on fire after they discarded their disposable grill in the bushes. The smoke and the subsequent damage analysis worsened my allergy to the point I had to ask my mother to do at least one field trip on my behalf just to see whether any butterflies already have become active during the warm and dry days, which lasted for roughly 20 days.
Three out of four species could be identified:
- Aglais io
- Anthocharis cardamines
- Gonepteryx rhamni
The fourth one was observed on the day I was attempting to do a field trip in spite of my health issues. I was forced to cancel it when my Canon EOS 60D's contact assembly failed to make contact with its lens due to aging spring coils no longer properly moving the contact pins.
It's getting difficult to push my personal issues aside at this point. Unfortunately, the weather quickly went from warm and dry to rainy, windy and frosty. While the vegetation period has barely started, it's hard to tell how all of this will affect the butterflies that already are active.
